The Bishop of Sodor and Man has written to the Island’s Chief Minister to ask the government to publically condemn the atrocities in Syria.
In a letter to Allan Bell, Bishop Robert Paterson says the world is dismayed at the civil unrest in the county and the continued violations of peace agreements.
He says the murder of 108 Muslims – 49 of which were children - has brought condemnation not only by the United Nations Security Council but by all civilised nations.
The Bishop said he trusted that the government was keeping a watching brief on the on-going suppression of free speech there and in other countries in the world so that the economy does not profit from other’s pain.
