The 2012 TT is officially here with the first practice getting underway on the Mountain Course this evening.
The session starts with a speed-controlled lap for the solo newcomers, followed by qualifying for the lightweight/newcomers.
The newcomers to the sidecars will be out next for a controlled lap, before free qualifying for the sidecars.
The Mountain Road will close at 5pm with the rest of the course shutting at 6pm.
The roads will reopen no later than 9.30pm, apart from the Mountain, which will open an hour later.
The TT Marshals Association says it could still use some extra volunteers for tonight’s practice and the session on Monday.
People interested should visit their offices at the back of the Grandstand.
We’ll have to wait until Monday evening to see many of the big names begin their quests for TT 2012.
That session includes qualifying for the Superbikes, Superstock, Supersport and Sidecars.
With 17 wins already under his belt, we asked John McGuinness what more he’s got to prove.[play media file below]
