Robin Gibb never forgot his Manx roots says Chief Minister

Wed, 23 May 2012

The Chief Minister has written to the widow of Robin Gibb expressing the Island’s pride in the Manx-born star.

The singer died on Sunday following a long battle with cancer.

Allan Bell has sent a letter to his wife Dwina to express the Island’s condolences.

Mr Bell says although he achieved fame and success at a global level, Robin never forgot his Manx roots.

This was apparent this week when the family announced that donations in lieu of flowers should be made to the Island’s children’s hospice, Rebecca House.

Robin officially opened the building in 2008.

In his letter, Mr Bell expresses his gratitude for the work that Robin and Dwina did for Rebecca House, saying it was a valuable contribution to our community.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive of the charity Margaret Simpson is both shocked and surprised by the donation request.[Play media file below]
