The Director of the Communications Commission has said she expects mobile phone bills to reduce by next year.
Last week proposals to cut the cost of mobile phone calls were put out to public consultation by the commission.
The consultation follows a review of the mobile phone market and looks in particular at Mobile Termination Rates – the charges made by one network for receiving calls on another.
Carmel McLaughlin said these measures will encourage constructive competition in the Island’s mobile markets without the burden and cost of excessive regulation.
