The government is extending the length of time people have to give their opinions on the public sector housing system.
A housing review has been carried out, which identifies how it could work in future and a consultation is underway.
The Department of Social Care says increasing costs to the tax payer, a rise in the number of small households and people living longer mean new policies need to be developed for the future.
Increasing rents and means testing tenants are some of the options.
Over 850 people have put their views forward so far.
The deadline is being extended by a week to the 15th June.
The consultation questionnaire can be found on the government's website.
