Funds to stabilise the cliffs at Ballure have been approved by Tynwald, months after the work got underway.
Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne apologised to members for going ahead with the scheme before being given permission to use the funds.
The works had been in the pipeline, but a landslip at the site in November last year meant the work needed to begin immediately.
Houses in the area, the MER lines and a public footpath were all considered to be at risk following the slippage.
Tynwald voted in favour of spending £405,000 on the first stage of work to stabilise the area.
