Residents of a block of flats in Castletown have escaped unharmed after a blaze broke out in a basement.
Fire and Rescue crews were called out just after 9am today to a building in Arbory Road.
Occupants had managed to get out before emergency services arrived but an extensive search of the property was carried out to make sure nobody was left inside.
The flames were brought under control quickly but crews remained at the scene for two hours checking for fire spread and investigating the cause.
A tumble drier in a communal laundry area was found to have caused the fire.
Fire and Rescue Officers advise that driers shouldn't be overloaded and the filter should be cleaned after every use.
