Police appeal for witnesses to fatal crash

An elderly woman has died following a crash near Bishopscourt.

It happened at around 3pm yesterday on the main road between Kirk Michael and Ballaugh.

The victim was a passenger in a blue Honda Jazz which is believed to have crossed onto the opposite side of the road before hitting a parked car and a stone wall.

Three people were cut free from the wreckage by fire crews and taken to hospital, where the woman, who was from Ballaugh, later died.

She hasn't yet been named.

The occupants of the parked car were shaken but unharmed.

Investigations into the cause of the crash were carried out at the scene and the road remained closed for several hours.
