Planners have refused permission for extra retail space to be created at a proposed Currys and PC World store in Braddan.
The electrical retailer is due to open up a shop on the Spring Valley Industrial Estate and had wanted to put another floor in the building,
Douglas Council objected and made submissions to planners, raising concerns about the affect the store could have on local retailers.
The Council also said the additional floor would go against the amount of retail space permitted in the orginal planning consent.
It's not yet known whether the rejection affects the retailer's plans to open up shop here.
Managerial staff have already been advertised for and further planning permission is sought to erect signage.
