The circumstances surrounding the death of an inmate at the Isle of Man Prison remain unexplained.
An inquest into the death of Douglas man Michael Joseph Davidson opened today.
The 26 year old was found dead in his cell by prison staff last month.
Attempts were made to revive him but they were unsuccessful.
Home Office pathologists have carried out two post mortems, and are awaiting toxicology results.
The cause of death is yet to be established.
Coroner John Needham told the inquiry that police investigations into the death are continuing.
The inquest was adjourned to resume at a later date.
A jury will be sworn in for the further hearing, which is normal practice when somebody dies in custody.
