The price of road tax on the Island has risen.
From yesterday, vehicle duty went up by 6%.
For a car with an engine size between 1.2l and 1.8l, that's a rise of £8 per year.
The Department of Infrastructure has promised to spend the increased revenue it receives on repairing the Island's roads.
The change to duty rates also irons out an anomaly in emissions based duty.
Director of Highways Richard Pearson recognises the price rise might be unpopular, but says the extra funds are desperately needed.
