Two theatres at Noble's Hospital have been closed after a fault in an air filter which helps with infection control.
Some orthopaedic operations have been postponed as a result.
A fluid leak has been found in the equipment, which catches particles in the air and reduces the likelihood of bacteria and viruses passing through it.
The hospital says there's no increased risk of infection to patients as the orthopaedic theatres were closed immediately when the problem was detected.
Only operations which need a controlled air flow have been postponed and will be rescheduled to take place in the next few weeks.
The closure is only temporary.
The Department of Health apologises but says it's essential to ensure patient safety isn't put at risk.
