A project to bring the outgoing baggage system at the Island's airport up to date has been given to go-ahead.
Tynwald members have agreed to spend £2.97million on 3 new scanners, a new conveyor belt and housing for the new equipment.
EU legislation means the upgrades have to be in place by the start of September, or Ronaldsway could lose its status as a UK domestic airport.
Infrastructure Minister David Cretney admits he isn't happy at the amount that needs to be spent on the new system, but concedes it is vital for the Island.
However, he says there will be a benefit for the construction sector [play clip]
