An MHK has been seeking reassurance about the forthcoming Freedom of Information Bill.

In the House of Keys, Onchan Member Zac Hall asked the Chief Minister about concerns raised in the UK about how the law works there.

Police, universities and other authorities have complained about the act in the United Kingdom and a review is underway.

Allan Bell said he's aware of the issues and says he will arrange a briefing for Tynwald members so they can review and discuss the Manx legislation before it's introduced.

Mr Hall was also worried about allegations in the UK that sensitive documents were destroyed before the law came into force...[play clip]
