£3m baggage system upgrade is vital says airport boss

Tue, 13 Mar 2012

Ronaldsway will lose its status as a UK domestic airport if the outgoing baggage system isn't upgraded.

At this month's sitting of Tynwald, Infrastructure Minister David Cretney will ask for almost £3m to install three new x-ray machines and a conveyer system.

New EU regulations mean the more advanced x-ray machines have to be in place by the first of September.

Director of Ronaldsway Ann Reynolds explains how missing the deadline would affect Isle of Man passengers arriving in the UK. [play media file below]
