The Treasury Minister says new cameras being installed in Shaw's Brow car park will capture images in good enough quality to be submitted as evidence in court.
Eddie Teare confirmed in the House of Keys that almost £88,000 worth of assets seized from criminals has been granted to the Douglas Community Safety Partnership to install a new CCTV system and control room in the car park.
Douglas South MHK Kate Beecroft raised concerns over whether the Partnership should qualify for the funds, which are generally reserved for projects which counter drug abuse.
But Mr Teare says this does meet the guidelines, and is a direct response to criticism of the quality of CCTV from a Deemster [play clip]
