An Oscar nominated screenwriter is backing a campaign to keep library services at their current level on the Isle of Man.
Alan Bennett has contacted campaigners to say his support to keep libraries open in North London equally applies to the Island.
Prospect, the union which represents the staff effected, says his support is unexpected.
An online petition has been set up since it was announced that the Family Library and mobile library services were to close due to Education cuts, and has gained over 1700 signatures.
