Irving loses court appeal

The organiser of the cancelled Isle of Man Bay Festival has lost an appeal against a court ruling.

Last year, Jonathon Irving and his son Jamie launched a claim against an advocate from the Attorney General's office and income tax officials after their company 'Street Heritage' was wound up by a Deemster.

It was claimed advocate Stephen Harding hadn't told the court that the Irvings wanted to settle a £180,000 tax bill and due to a mix up, the Irving's lawyer hadn't attended the hearing to make the submission himself.

The company was wound up in his absence.

Mr Irving lost the case and appealed against elements of the judgement.

Partly that his human rights had been breached and that Stephen Harding, who's now the Attorney General, had been negligent.

The Appeal Deemsters determined that Mr Irving's claims had no merits.

Two complaints Mr Irving made about Mr Harding in 2010 were found proved by the Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal.
