Karran withdraws comment after accusing MLC of lying

The Minister for Education has withdrawn a comment in which he accused a departmental member of lying.

Peter Karran made the accusation against MLC Dudley Butt during a heated exchange in Tynwald last night.

Mr Butt said plans to replace the pre school provision hadn't been discussed with the DEC political Members.

The Minister hit back and accused him of leaking news of the spending cuts to the media.

Mr Butt denied this.

Mr Karran was asked by President Clare Christian to withdraw his comment during the debate last night.

However he didn't and the matter was revisited this afternoon.[play media file below]
