Questions about how the Department of Social Care intends to offer services to the elderly in future will be raised in Tynwald this month.

It's been announced that Glenside Residential Home is to close in 2014 under plans to change the way adult social care services are delivered.

The Government wants more elderly people to be cared for in their own homes as it's cheaper.

East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell wants to know how many Home Care Assistants are employed at the moment and she'll seek more information about their workload and training.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson is also asking about the same topic.

He wants to know about the continuation of long-term admissions to residential homes, what resources will be provided to care for the needs of the elderly and whether there will be extra funding available.
