A union has launched a petition against the closure of the Glenside Residential Home.
The Douglas care home has stopped taking in new admissions and is expected to shut completely within two years.
Unite believes the move is cost-led and not in the best-interests of the most vulnerable members in the community.
The union claims it will lead to a drop in care standards and an increase in people claiming benefits as they quit their jobs to look after elderly relatives.
Members also want guarantees that if any of the care services are taken over by the private sector, staff will be transferred with the services.
Copies of the petition can be found at the union's offices on Fort Street in Douglas and also in some local shops.
Members also plan to lobby politicians and stage a protest out the legislative buildings.
