Police are reminding motorists of the importance of reporting collisions to the police no matter how minor the damage may appear.
The warning comes after a vehicle parked on York Road in Douglas sustained damage over the weekend.
Officers say accidents should be reported to police when the owner of the damaged car isn't present as soon as practical within 24 hours.
In this case, the car was parked legally close to the traffic lights at the junction with Somerset Road between 11.30 on Saturday night and 10.00 yesterday morning.
It's thought the vehicle responsible may be white.
Police say the owner now faces a costly bill to repair their car, which has had to be taken off the road whilst work is carried out.
Anyone who can help officers trace the driver responsible is asked to contact Police Headquarters.
