Two Douglas schools are to be merged after the headteacher of one decided to step down.
Murray's Road headteacher Steve Taylor is to return to classroom teaching following a period of ill health.
The Department of Education and Children is to begin amalgamating the primary school with its feeder infant school Ballaquayle.
From February half term, Linda Green will be headteacher for both schools.
The DEC says the move is not for financial reasons, and say the savings will be small.
It's hoped bringing both schools under one head will provide greater continuity for pupils.
