The Department of Health says patients who've had hip replacements on the Island shouldn't worry about reports in the UK, saying metal on metal hips can cause problems.
Health Chiefs says surgeons on the Island don't use that type of hip joint.
DePuy ASR and ASR XL hip replacements were recalled in August 2010.
Reports have emerged recently of patients suffering pain as the replacements fail.
The Department says most patients who've had this type of joint fitted will already have been contacted.
Anyone who has had this type of hip fitted elsewhere and hasn't heard from their surgeon yet is advised to contact them, even if they're not suffering any pain.
