A former MHK is going to stand in the upcoming local authority elections.
Bill Malarkey missed out in the House of Keys General Election last year, with David Cretney and Kate Beecroft taking the two Douglas South seats.
He's to stand in Murray's Ward for Douglas Council.
Mr Malarkey's wife Carol is already a Councillor, representing Hills Ward.
Current Councillor Jim Mitchell has announced he won't be looking to keep his seat for Murray's Ward at the next election, so has agreed to be Mr Malarkey's proposer.
The former MHK says his priorities if elected would be to fight out of town retail and to continue regeneration of Douglas, including the development of a new bus station.
The local authority elections are due to take place in April.
