Department of Health won't replace PIP implants

The Isle of Man's Department of Health says it won't be replacing PIP breast implants fitted in private clinics unless clinically necessary.

The Department has issued further advice for those affected by the health scare surrounding the defective implants.

Health Chiefs say they'll remove the implants if necessary, but won't be replacing them.

If the clinic which provided the implants refuses to help, women with PIP are being advised to contact their GP.

The Department says no women who had surgery on Island, or were sent to the UK for implants on the NHS were given PIP implants.

However, it is understood that at least two women on the Island had PIP implants fitted in a private clinic in the UK.
