Jobs may be under threat at the two Peacocks stores in Douglas after the company went into administration.
However, it's still hoped a buyer can be found for the Welsh-based chain after an agreement couldn't be reached with lenders over the restructuring of a reported £240m worth of debts.
As well as the shops in the Strand Shopping Centre and at the Victoria Road Shoprite, the group also owns Bonmarche in Strand Street.
Over 30 staff are employed here.
The shops are open for business as usual although shoppers are told at the counter that they can't bring back unwanted goods because of the company being in the hands of administrators.
