Silt causing access problems at Heysham
Thu, 12 Jan 2012
The owner of Heysham port says silt is building up, compromising vessel access.
The main UK port for the Ben my Chree needs remedial work to fix the problem.
Manx owned Peel Holdings is looking for a company to remove 36,000 cubic metres of silt from the port to keep the docks accessible.
The dredged material would then be dumped at sea.
A tender process to find a contractor is underway, with submissions needed by January 22nd.
