CoMin report on TV licence to go before Tynwald

Fri, 06 Jan 2012

The report into an investigation into the TV licence fee is recommending little change.

The Council of Ministers has been looking at the findings of a committee set up to look at whether the Isle of Man gets value for money from the fee.

In July, Tynwald agreed to the initial findings of the investigation which said the Island should continue paying the licence fee but that more value is needed from the BBC.

Home Affairs Minister and Chairman of the Communication Commission Juan Watterson will move the CoMin report into the investigation at this month's sitting of Tynwald.

Ministers want to see the Communication Commission encourage development on the issue, and review its regulatory functions.

Tynwald sits from January 17th.
