Fire crews are highlighting the importance of fire alarms following a fire at a lift in a Douglas office.
Officers were called to premises on Victoria Street just after midnight after an automated alarm went off.
Once in the building, it was discovered that an electrical intake board in the lift motor room was smoldering, causing severe smoke logging.
Due to the effective alarm system, the fire didn't have time to spread.
Crews believe this could have been a major incident affecting a number of buildings without the early detection from the fire alarm.
