Odds shorten on Cav winning sports personality award

Mark Cavendish is clear favourite to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Online betting comparison site oddschecker.com says it's noticed a steady shortening of odds on the Manxman winning.

They are now 2/5.

It's being put down to a successful Twitter campaign encouraging people to vote for Cav.

In the last year, he's become the first British rider to win the Tour de France green jersey, and also won the road race world championships.

Second favourite for the award is golfer Darren Clarke.

The winner will be announced tomorrow night.
