Over £82,000 has been spent on a report for the Office of Fair Trading that isn't likely to be published.
In 2009, the OFT began an investigation to look into the Steam Packet company's pricing structure.
However, it was announced in the summer that the information gathered is no longer relevant so the findings won't be made public.
Chairman of the OFT David Quirk was asked in Tynwald today how much the excercise cost.
Mr Quirk says it's not possible to put an exact price on it at the moment, but the contract for an off-Island consultancy firm was £82,000.
The Chairman they're still considering the issue and if the board decide to publish any information, a further statement will be made.
Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan raised the matter today.[Play media file below]
