Following major disruption to sea travel, the Chief Minister says the Government and the Steam Packet need to sit down and see what lessons can be learned for the future.
There have been a number of sailing cancellations lately as the Ben-my-Chree's technical problems coincide with severe weather conditions.
Allan Bell met with the Chief Executive today to find out what the company plans to do to maintain services in the pre-Christmas period.
Mr Bell says he has highlighted the importance of this time of year for local retail businesses as well as other aspects of Island life.
The Ben-my-Chree will go into dry-dock for repairs from Friday to Monday.
The Manannan will take over passenger services but will only be able to carry a limited amount of freight.
The Steam Packet hasn't been able to charter a freighter to take over cargo duties.
