Douglas Council plans to oppose the sale of the Summerland site.
At a meeting of the board's Policy and Resources Committee, it was decided that a letter will be sent to Infrastructure Minister David Cretney asking that the site be retained.
The Council wants the land to be kept for public use, and considered for future use as a transport interchange and parking.
Last month, Mr Cretney told the House of Keys that the land is likely to be placed on the open market.
It's expected the site will fetch around £5,000,000.
The Council meets on Wednesday, when Councillors will vote on whether to approve the findings of the Policy and Resources Committee.
