The Department of Social Care is developing proposals to build housing on the old Park Road School site.
The school will shut next July, with the new building at Bemahague in Onchan opening in September.
The government also owns the Bowling Green pub which is next door to Park Road.
In the House of Keys, Education and Children Minister Peter Karran was asked what is planned for the land.
Mr Karran says although there is an idea it could be used for public sector housing, that isn't definite yet.
Other suggestions include using the land for government offices and moving another school onto the site.
Mr Karran says the Treasury is still looking at all the options.[play media file below]
