Ben my Chree crashes at Heysham

The Ben my Chree has a hole in its hull after it crashed in Heysham at lunchtime.

The ferry was trying to dock in strong winds when she was pushed onto a structure in the harbour.

The Steam Packet says the Ben has a small hole four metres above the water line.

This afternoon's Heysham to Douglas and the return at 19.45 tonight are cancelled.

Passengers have been offered transfers to other crossings.

It's expected the damage will be patched up temporarily and the boat will resume sailing from 1.45 tomorrow morning.

The Steam Packet apologises for any inconvenience caused.
