A full review is to be carried out into the future of the Manx Grand Prix.
The government is to look at the costs, the benefits and how it could be developed in future.
Next year's event between 18th August and 2nd September won't be affected by the review and will run as planned.
Chief Executive of the Department of Economic Development Colin Kniveton will oversee the exercise.
He says it's policy to ensure all government-funded events are producing a reasonable return on the tax payer's money invested in them.
Mr Kniveton says it's also about ensuring we maximise the potential of events in terms of generating visitors and media coverage.
