Politicians learn about tidal energy system

Politicians have been given a presentation by a company which says it has the technology to generate all the electricty the Island needs from the rise and fall of the tides.

Manx firm Ocean Energy has designed a turbine system which it says would produce commercial levels of energy around the clock.

It would take up a 4 km2 area of sea.

Technical Director Doug Saunders spoke to interested members of the House of Keys and the Legislative Council yesterday.
