The Minister for Economic Development says the government has come up with a new strategy to try to bring more tourists to the Island.
It's a joint public and private sector initiative with input from people from accommodation, travel, hospitality and events industries.
The areas that will be focused on include the development of cruise markets, access and transportation, events led tourism and as well as developing new tourism products.
Minister told John Shimmin spoke about the matter in the House of Keys today.
He said it's success will be measured by the number of visitors.
Mr Shimmin says the DED is hoping to attract 300,000 tourists in 2011, which would be over 20,000 more than last year.
However he says the economic problems are making it tough.[play media file below]
