A trade union leader is intending to stand in the Onchan Commissioners by-election.
James Corrin says a number of people have suggested he stand.
He also announced his candidacy for the House of Keys General Election earlier this year, but later withdrew his name from the poll.
The by-election is needed after Brian Stowell handed in his resignation earlier this week.
Mr Stowell is backing Mr Corrin to succeed him, and hopes no other candidates come forward so that the expense of the vote is spared.
A full election of Onchan Commissioners is due to take place early next year.
