The Steam Packet Company is calling for protection to navigation routes to the Island.
The ferry operator says it's time its approaches to the Island were kept free of fishing gear.
It comes after the company had to take its fastcraft Manannan out of service for a day for essential maintenance.
The vessel has needed over a million pounds worth of work this year, largely due to its engines ingesting fishing equipment that's been left in its routes.
The Steam Packet says these measures are essential to maintain reliable services for its passengers
