Next month's Rally Isle of Man has been cancelled.
The event, which is a round of an international championship, was due to run from 27 - 29th October.
It used to be held in the summer but was moved to the autumn at the request of the Isle of Man Government, which has been the primary backer of the rally.
The new dates have come with a whole host of problems.
They're not suitable for it to be a round of the main British Championship or the Historic Championship in 2012.
There are also issues with ferry travel for the teams as the Liverpool fastcraft crossings and sailings to and from Ireland finish for the winter season.
The final nail in the coffin was a clash with a government arranged 'Ghost Walk' in Castletown, which may have meant the road closure order for the rally wouldn't be granted.
Press officer Chris Boyd says although this year's event is cancelled, they want Rally Isle of Man to return in future. [play media file]
