The winner of Saturday's Manx Grand Prix newcomers race has died during today's Junior race.

20 year old Wayne Hamilton was running third when he crashed at the thirteenth milestone on the approach to Kirk Michael.

The Portadown rider made his road racing debut in 2009, and has recorded wins at the Southern 100, Skerries and Dundrod.

The Manx Motor Cycle Club says he was a promising competitor who had set this year's MGP alight in the newcomers race.

The club goes on the say he'll be a great loss to the sport, and extends its deepest sympathies to his friends and family.
