A £1500 donation has allowed the Department of Health to upgrade equipment in the radiology department at Noble's Hospital.

The Manx Osteoporosis Society donated the funds so the Dexa Scanner could be replaced with one meeting the latest technical specifications.

The equipment helps assess a patient's risk of having a fracture.

The scanner will be particularly useful when treating children, who have previosuly had to go off Island for scans.

Around 1100 Dexa scans are carried out on the Island every year.
