The government is considering the findings of a consultation into Health and Safety
It's considering creating an authority to deal solely with health and safety in the work place.
At the moment the laws are enforced by the Health and Safety Inspectorate within the Department of Infrastructure.
The public sector is the Island's biggest employer, and it's believed there should be a degree of separation between the Inspectorate and government .
A public consultation generated 50 responses.
Just under half were in favour, a quarter were against and the rest were neutral.
The majority of companies and public bodies were supportive.
However, most members of the public and politicians who responded weren't keen on the idea.
