A new tenant for Jurby stores should be chosen by next month.
The only shop in the village closed recently and there's been anger that an emergency measure wasn't put in place by the Department of Social Care which owns the building.
The department is looking for someone to run Jurby Stores and has placed an advert with a local estate agent.
It says it will consider all proposals so it gets the best for the taxpayer and the community.
MHK David Cannan has criticised the Department saying an emergency store run by the Ballaugh One Stop Shop could have opened within 24 hours of it closing.
However, the Department says this offer was later withdrawn when the owners were told that operating a temporary facility did'nt guarantee them a long term lease.
