The Steam Packet thinks it will be at least a few weeks until repairs can be carried out on Manannan.
The ferry has a fault with one of its gear boxes which means it's operating on reduced power.
Crossing times have been affected this week.
The trip between the Island and Liverpool has been taking three hours instead of two and a half hours.
The company is waiting for the parts needed to repair Manannan.
The fast craft will be leaving 10 to 15 minutes early where possible to reduce scheduling issues and minimise delays.
The Steam Packet is saying sorry to passengers and says it's working as fast as it can to have the problem fixed.
