Onchan Commissioners says the environmental benefits of kerbside recycling don't justify the costs involved.
The local authority has confirmed its decision to not to continue with the collection scheme beyond October.
It comes as Douglas and Braddan announce they'll be extending kerbside recycling to March 2012.
Onchan Commissioners says a report shows it does have some benefits like a small decrease in global warming gases, but it says this is outweighed by the half a million pound cost.
The authority says bring banks are environmentally neutral and well supported by residents.
It says these are the best option and new recycling sites in Onchan are now being considered.
