The closure of Liverpool Coastguard Station will have very little impact on the Isle of Man.
That's according to the Department of Infrastructure.
Director of Harbours Captain Mike Crew says at the moment Liverpool gives support for complex incidents and co-ordinates offshore incidents.
He says the Isle of Man already deals with over eighty percent of emergency calls, and they are looking to increase this to over ninety percent.
They will still have a designated point of contact in the UK, but it's not known at the moment if this will be the coastguard in Belfast or Hollyhead.
Captain Brew says it doesn't matter which one it is.
He says people needn't be worried about the change.[play audio file below]
