The Department of Infrastructure is increasing some of its annual highway maintenance in the hope of preventing further damage to the Island's roads this winter.
The DoI is expanding its surface dressing programme to help repair the remains of last year's damage, and prevent further problems this year.
The dressing involves applying layers of chippings to a road to restore grip, prevent frost damage and extend the life of the road surface.
The Department is also in the process of remarking the roads, as many white lines were badly worn during last winter.
Motorists are asked to take care where chippings have been freshly laid or where road markings have been removed.
Harsh weather conditions last year left roads across the Island in a poor state of repair.
